This Sunday....

An action packed Sunday at THE LFS awaits fans of touch football as the international star players from their respective countries return to their clubs. Given a full week of rest after the World Cup, these superstars who ply their trade in the National Touch League will be eager to strut onto the pitch and show off their new found skills.

From the information that i've gathered from my sources, this sunday will have:

The Singaporeans who are looking forward to show everyone why they are the best in Asia.
The Kiwis who will show again why they are the second best in the world.
The French who with all their enthusiam will once again show why they were not invited to the World Cup.
And finally not forgetting The 2 Malaysians who as usual will only serve to frustrate their teammates.

But enough of the Superstars.

This article is going to be about the low-profile but up and coming youngsters from Bati. This is a team made up of mainly last season's div 2 runners-up Coyotes and the youth
of 6pack, last season's Champions. If anyone's thinking that this team is merely competing for the sake of exposure, then think again.

Team Captain Jielun, 28, not surprsingly the oldest player on the team, had this to say "This is my farewell tournament, I've got to....win*sob*". Jielun is leaving for Taiwan in March to negotiate his new contract following his much publicised transfer to wealthy KaoShiung Warriors. It seems that 6pack players always move on to bigger and better leagues abroad.

It seems that the team is extremely determined to win this tournament for their Capt. The look of intensity during training yesterday signalled their intent to destroy whatever hopes the International Players have of winning this tournament. Said David, 19, "The other teams might have loads of experience and skill, but we will make it up with our Semangat and Grit."

Future Star in the making, Nure aged 12(spotted on the phone talking to her over-16 boyfriend) commented "Of course we want to win, but it matters more if we play well and keep this team spirit going."

They might not win the tournament this Sunday or the league soon. But judging by their team spirit and their will to succeed. They might just be the surprise of the season.
