The 6-pack Chronicle

Every team has a beginning.
As much as we should be interested in
the present
and the future,
we ought to know of our past and how this team came about.

Anyway, 6-pack almost did not happen at all due to financing difficulties but thanx to the SRC Ladies Captain, Mingli, who came to the rescue and toiled hard to find the funding for this team to exist. Therefore, we owe the Ladies a big gratitute. Should there come a time when our assistance is rendered (be it a fun-raising or rugby event), please kindly help them up for it is no small feat to raise the amount of $880

The Beginning:
The team started with a humble 6-8 guys playing in the mixed SRC team. For a virgin mixed touch team, we did extremely well, running through every oppo and securing no less than a 2nd place, behind one of the most dominating team in the National Touch League.

The idea of a Men's team came about right after the NTL league itself. For the guys to get as much exposure as the ladies and increase the playing standard/experience, we need to have a Men's Team in the League. Furthermore, it is about time that Wanderers' dominance at all categories must be ended. And with their players aging at a rapid rate, the takeover must be done soon before they have any excuses of being old and out of 'touch'. Plus, the SRC ladies could use a sparring team during training.

Unfortunately, 6-8 guys shrank to 5..... 1 left to Iraq, 1 had to teach and 1 is playing for Bucks for Men's ...

The 5
Jielun (the founder of this team) for it is him who called ppl up and get me interested in playing,
Alan, who somehow finds his way to Yio Chu Kang stadium from Dover by bicycle for his 1st training, therefore no excuse to turn him down,
Xiang-junn, who was looking forward to competitive Touch or perhaps he was just looking forward to touching girls,
Dennis, who watched us in a game, was impressed by our team and decided to join up
Leander, who just wanna play

The Recruiment:
5 definitely cannot form a Men's team...so...hoping more guys would join us....
....weekly Touch Friendlies we had....

vs Republic Poly,
vs Temasek Poly,
vs Ngee Ann Poly,
vs some Indian National Team,
vs Eusoff Hall.....

...from then....
5
eventually became
11
Loo, who has been dedicatedly training together since last year,

Sujan & Amila, an inseparable pair drafted from RP,
Kenny, promising & committed young playa from RP as well,
Hairul, who has been religiously turning up for friendlies late last year , though could not promise to play all the way but gave his words to play he has been supportingly committed,
Hadi, who had the pleasure of playing against the Indian National Team and was hungry for more actions & some League domination...good lad,

we have a team

2006
the year
.After friendlies vs Bucks every Saturday
&
a Beach Touch Tournament
the 11 grew to
16
David, who almost went home coz he could not find us in Turf City and what fate it would be if he did left,
Yum Hwa, who has difficulty in joining us at first due to some domestic issue, ask him if u are "kaypoh",
Adam, who was bribed to play with the Rip Curl goodies won from Beach Touch competition,
And through some connections,
2 experienced Touch players were called forth, Khairul & Jervais

And

then

it was bornt

A team
of
16 talented players
A potential Touch Rugby Champ team in time to come
but definitely a bunch of guys who simply loves playing rugby
History in the making
6-pack
